Our Story, Mission and Values
Our story begin in Bolton, a town with a proud textiles heritage, and has now brought us to Silverdale. Crafty Little Bird grew from a love of vintage fashion, sewing and handmade crafts. Our mission is simple: to offer a welcoming place where anyone, including complete beginners, can learn and enjoy crafting. I believe it's important to pass these skills on to the next generation, and I love teaching children to sew, as its a valuable sill for life. we value community, creativity and keeping traditional skills alive through friendly, approachable teaching.
Meet Crafty Little Bird
Hello, my name's Julie, and I'm the face behind Crafty Little Bird, I've been crafting since I was little, influenced by both of my grandmas. My love of needlecraft and sewing lead me to study Textile Surface Design at Bolton University, one of the Norths key textile towns. I'm a qualified teacher, and I love bringing vintage craft techniques to life through hands-on guidance and support. I love to make my own clothes inspired by 1940s style, especially upcycling modern clothes by giving them a vintage style revamp.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone beam with pride because they've made something from scratch and I taught them how. So join me to learn new skills, explore retro styles and become part of a community that celebrates all thing handmade.
